Create a backup of user data in your phone

To avoid losing your photos, contacts, music, videos and messages, Sony Ericsson recommends that you save your personal user data before you perform a software update.Update Service replaces all existing software and resets your phone to its original settings.Depending on your phone model, there are several ways to back up your user data:
  • Memory Card
Saves your contacts, bookmarks, pictures *, video clips *, music *, ringtones *, applications *, games * and downloaded content (podcasts, etc ...).
  • SIM Card
Saves your contacts and SMS messages on your SIM card. The number of contacts and SMS messages that can be stored depends on the SIM card.
  • Synchronization software
Allows you to save your contacts, bookmarks, pictures *, video clips *, music *, ringtones *, applications *, games * and downloaded content (podcasts, etc.)..
Note: it is not possible to save some material protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management). DRM is used to limit the distribution of digital media, such as audio files, photos, ringtones, video clips, and entertainment files such as games, Java applications, etc..When the update is complete your additional rights will be lost. To use a DRM-protected file, please contact the content provider for additional duties. According to the data you want to transfer, you can use a memory card, Microsoft ActiveSync, Bluetooth ™ or a SIM card to transfer data from your phone. The easiest way is to do a full backup with Microsoft ActiveSync:
  1. When your phone is connected to your computer, simply click on the Browse button of ActiveSync that lets you navigate your phone as if it were a removable disk.
  2. Then simply copy and paste or drag and drop information from your phone to your computer to easily perform a backup.
