HOW TO WATCH TV ON A VISTA PC


Operating System Microsoft Windows Vista introduced a numbernew features since its release in late 2006. One of these improvements is known as Windows Media Center. With Windows Media Center, you can configure your computer to watch live TV on your PC. In addition to watching live TV, you can pause, rewind and record live programming. Similar to a DVR, you can also schedule programs to record at the same time future.

    SETUP TV VIEWING

  1. Buy a TV tuner for your PC. Microsoft provides a guide to compatible TV tuner that is listed in the resources section. Check compatibility with your system before buying a particular brand or model of TV tuner.
  2. Install the TV tuner into your system. You may need to restart your computer for the device to be recognized and properly initialized.
  3. Open Windows Media Center in the "Start" menu by selecting "Windows Media Center" from the menu list. If you run Windows Media Center for the first time, you need to configure the software.Follow the prompts on the screen so that Windows Media Center can optimize your system for TV viewing.
  4. Select "TV" in the main menu of Windows Media Center, once the installation is complete. To watch live TV, select "Live TV Setup" while Windows Media Center can detect and configure your TV tuner playing live TV. If Live TV has already been created, you can start watching television immediately.
  5. Select "Internet TV" in the TV menu of Windows Media Center to set up listening to Internet television. The software will then download and install a small file that allows you to watch Internet TV in Windows Media Center.
  6. Choose programs to watch the "Guide" in the menu of the TV. You can also search for a particular television program or choose to watch previously recorded programs.
